I still had about a ton of rubble, vines and other debris to shift, but it would be much easier to do so while it was dry and not saturated.<\/p>\n<p>This is how the horno looked when I broke into in earlier in the month and got my first look, deciding then that I would use some of my time at the house to try and clear the tons of collapsed roof and other junk.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1357\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/breadovenhouse.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1357\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1357\" title=\"breadovenhouse\" src=\"http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/breadovenhouse-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/breadovenhouse-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/breadovenhouse.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1357\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">As I found it....<\/p><\/div>\n<p>And I&#8217;ve spent quite a bit of time in there before finally shovelling out my last barrow full of debris at around two-thirty this afternoon. This is how it looks now, and I&#8217;m feeling pretty proud of myself despite a sore back, and a slightly twisted right knee.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1545\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/hornocleaned.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1545\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1545\" title=\"hornocleaned\" src=\"http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/hornocleaned-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/hornocleaned-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/hornocleaned.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1545\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">...as I&#39;m leaving it.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>So what was the final total of rubbish, the interesting stuff rather than the rubble, slate and soil?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two bicycles and assorted mudguards and seats<\/li>\n<li>A waist high pile of clothes, rags, and shoes<\/li>\n<li>A gas stove (small)<\/li>\n<li>Over eighty intact bottles, most of which used to contain alcohol<\/li>\n<li>A car seat<\/li>\n<li>Enough seed trays to start a nursery<\/li>\n<li>Assorted motorbike paraphernalia including, helmet, mirrors, oil filter, carburettor, mudguards, and shiny reflecting things<\/li>\n<li>The remnants of several sacks of salt and lime (nice easy shovelling)<\/li>\n<li>At least one steel plough and one steel bedstead<\/li>\n<li>Loads of old tins (mostly tuna or oil)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230;.and the rear half of a large plastic pink woolly sheep for which I never did find the front end!<\/p>\n<p>At four o&#8217;clock the rain came just as predicted, and I felt just a little bit smug.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the forecast predicting the weather to break (and rain to start) at five o&#8217;clock this afternoon I had decided that today was the day that I would finish clearing the horno\/bodega.
