{"id":2,"date":"2010-07-23T10:03:52","date_gmt":"2010-07-23T10:03:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saints-hosting.org.uk\/sadfish\/visitgalicia\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2014-08-10T08:13:33","modified_gmt":"2014-08-10T08:13:33","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/?page_id=2","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Call it a mid-life crisis, call it a mission impossible, call us plain crazy!<\/p>\n<p>You won&#8217;t be the first, and almost certainly won&#8217;t be the last.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2009 after six months of research and planning we, a couple of forty-something professionals from Yorkshire, began a journey to buy and\u00a0renovate an old farmhouse in the beautiful Spanish Galician Countryside.<\/p>\n<p>Five visits, and fifty houses, later we purchased our little piece of Spain. The property is a rolling two acres of gently sloping south-facing pasture land containing six ruined houses (two with roofs the others in ruin), an Horreo (pronounced or-ray-o) which is a galician grain store, a massive open fireplace, and a casa del horno (pronounced or-no) a bread oven house.<\/p>\n<p>We are moving to Galicia in October 2014 to renovate our farmhouse as self catering holiday lets.<\/p>\n<dl id=\"attachment_11\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 310px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/CasaSinNombreblog.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11\" title=\"The House with No Name 'Casa Sin Nombre'\" src=\"http:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/CasaSinNombreblog-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/CasaSinNombreblog-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.visitgalicia.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/CasaSinNombreblog.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\">The main house and the horreo<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>We&#8217;ll be keeping the blog regularly updated with progress, problems, trials, tribulations and advice for anyone traveling to Galicia now, or in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully when the apartments are completed and all licenses are in place, we will look forward to welcoming you to Casa\u00a0Li\u00f1eiras\u00a0so you can see what a fantastic place Galicia is.<\/p>\n<p>We hope that you like the blog and find it a useful resource.
