About

Call it a mid-life crisis, call it a mission impossible, call us plain crazy!

You won’t be the first, and almost certainly won’t be the last.

In November 2009 after six months of research and planning we, a couple of forty-something professionals from Yorkshire, began a journey to buy and renovate an old farmhouse in the beautiful Spanish Galician Countryside.

Five visits, and fifty houses, later we purchased our little piece of Spain. The property is a rolling two acres of gently sloping south-facing pasture land containing six ruined houses (two with roofs the others in ruin), an Horreo (pronounced or-ray-o) which is a galician grain store, a massive open fireplace, and a casa del horno (pronounced or-no) a bread oven house.

We are moving to Galicia in October 2014 to renovate our farmhouse as self catering holiday lets.

We’ll be keeping the blog regularly updated with progress, problems, trials, tribulations and advice for anyone traveling to Galicia now, or in the future.

Hopefully when the apartments are completed and all licenses are in place, we will look forward to welcoming you to Casa Liñeiras so you can see what a fantastic place Galicia is.

We hope that you like the blog and find it a useful resource. Please feel free to comment, advise and criticise (but be gentle with us).
